Review on πŸ“š LeapFrog LeapPad Academy Learning Tablet: Revolutionizing Education for Kids by Mario Bullard

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Can be used offline, robust but not very intuitive.

I bought this for my 6 year old niece and one of the best things about it was that it could be used offline. Up to 25 games can be downloaded for offline use. They don't have internet so this was extra important. To be honest I was surprised at how solid it felt in my hands, oily and impact resistant thanks to the included rubber boot. So I was very confident that he would survive. Since they don't have internet, I actually topped it up, downloaded a few dozen games, and updated the software (twice before actually giving her a gift). The graphics were better than I expected, the internet connection and speed was as good as my "real" tablet. Still, I got frustrated trying to find games, and even after I did once, I had trouble finding it when I tried to add some additional games back later. It just didn't seem very intuitive to me. Finally done, given to her and she loves it. She digs into this thing at every opportunity and doesn't seem to have the same frustration as I did when I found out where everything was. All in all a good product, could do with some improvement.

Pros
  • hands free
Cons
  • so far so good
