Cannot add more leg levelers

I have a home inspection company and we use these ladders on a daily basis. Most of us use 12ft models but I have 1800EP. (14.5 ft) Previously, it was possible to replace existing legs with leveling feet that fit within the ladder body. However, OSHA (no doubt inspired by some lawyers) forced the company to incorporate plastic bushings into the ladder, which dampen the speed at which it collapses when you press the latch. Therefore, layers cannot be installed. The odd thing is that the shabby plastic parts eventually start to disintegrate, causing the stair frame to partially slide out. The solution is to remove the plastic bushings. Now my ladder works great and I have no idea why anyone would think it would collapse too quickly without a shock absorber. Equalizers can be installed without dampers and work great. Unfortunately, ladders are no longer made because ladders must have dampers. So now we have a ladder that cannot be safely installed on uneven surfaces. The nannies successfully sacrificed a good system for a more dangerous one, probably because neither of them had ever used a ladder. Now it's time to make a custom adapter for attaching spirit levels in the machine shop.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not all will fit
