Home Inspector didn't work for me

Solidly made, promising, but not for me because of two things. The main reason is that the top metal rung is touching the wall, not the rubber ends (if not fully extended, the ladder will only extend with the rungs folded on top). In my job I'm judged because I look wrong in the mirror, I can't scratch the walls. Another reason: Often when exiting the attic through a trapdoor, I'll lower the ladder one rung to lean it against the nearest wall to put the trapdoor back in place. This ladder…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Some flaws

I have been using Telesteps 1600e for 4 years and they are definitely consumer quality and probably only for the average homeowner. I say this because I've gone through 3 of these in 4 years, but I use them almost daily as a roof inspector. I don't usually carry anything up the stairs besides myself and a tool belt, so no more than 220 pounds. Thought I'd spend the extra $$ and get the Pro version this time. So far I'm impressed, it works the same as the 1600 but much more reliably. The only…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Fading

I ordered 20 of these on the recommendation of the insurance agent and discovered the hard way that they were unreliable. The release mechanism under each step can fail within a week of using the stair. They want you to return the ladder to the retailer and the cost and hassle (remember the ladder doesn't completely collapse) of doing this is supposed to be something people like me forget. We use them for evaluation (they are not reliable enough for projects) and they are kept in the back seat…

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Really don't like everything is fine

Cannot add more leg levelers

I have a home inspection company and we use these ladders on a daily basis. Most of us use 12ft models but I have 1800EP. (14.5 ft) Previously, it was possible to replace existing legs with leveling feet that fit within the ladder body. However, OSHA (no doubt inspired by some lawyers) forced the company to incorporate plastic bushings into the ladder, which dampen the speed at which it collapses when you press the latch. Therefore, layers cannot be installed. The odd thing is that the shabby…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Not all will fit
