I make a lot of furniture and depending on the finish used I can sand to 1000+ and then buff with 3M Perfect It wheels and polishing paste. This paper also works just as well on metal. I just repaired some damaged stud legs. Easier to fix than return - works great. This paper works well for sanding between coats of polyurethane, especially water-based polyester, which will inevitably lift the texture of most woods. I have also used this sandpaper on metal where a finer sanding is required and it works great. I can make the paper fit most of my hand sanders or just use it with my bare hands. I will also use a coarser grit for a final polish that will not require sanding between coats. It all depends on the final look I want which is usually satin. The attached photo shows a Granadillo live edge board that I applied 5 coats of water based polymer to and sanded between coats with this sandpaper. Then I polished the finish. It's not as shiny as it looks in real light, unlike a couple of 6000 Kelvin LED bulbs in my shop. This is an inexpensive, good quality wet or dry sandpaper. Hope that helps!
