I have an American Red Cross FRX3 and ordered another radio as a gift. I accidentally ordered the FRX3+. The big difference between the two radios is that the Plus loses its functionality if the supplied battery cannot be recharged. The FRX3 allows you to install three AAA batteries, but not Plus. If the battery fails, the radio is unusable. They gave you a big battery in PLUS. The second point is the location of the buttons. They are located under the handle and are therefore very difficult to see. The ability to install AAA was a big difference between this and other radios. If I could return it I would. Sam S
