I have a 2003 Dodge Durango that is currently on resistor #4, fan #2. The first error left me with just speed 4 back, as did the second error. I also replaced the fan at this point after realizing that the original (which was 13 years old at the time) didn't spin as freely as I expected. Third mistake I had to replace the entire resistor/wiring harness as the connector had melted into the resistor. The last error left the fan idle. Bought a different wire harness/resistor. I used wire nuts to hold the larger wires instead of the crimp connectors sent. Hopefully if (not if) it fails again a replacement will be quicker. During testing, with the fan only running for a few seconds, the resistor was already uncomfortably warm. But the venerable Durango has air conditioning and defroster again.
