Review on 🚲 Avantree Cyclone Portable Bluetooth 5.0 Bike Speaker with Bicycle Mount & SD Card Slot, 10W Powerful Bass & NFC Pairing, Splash Proof, Shockproof & Dustproof for Outdoor Riding by Charles Barney

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The little hockey puck speaker on top of my pannier has a much better response. Alas

It is heavily rubberized and sits well in the bottle holder. However, the plastic cover is not protected by anything. According to Murphy's Law, if the device falls, it lands. Bass is pretty anemic both indoors and outdoors, especially outdoors, although it's about on-track for speakers in this price range. Responds to equalizer settings with overall volume. The volume is not sufficient for the intended purpose of cycling on all but the quietest routes. Loud enough inside at your desk, but not for what I want. Again at face value for the course. It should be louder on the road, especially when mounted low in the bottle cage. The little hockey puck speaker on top of my pannier has a much better response. Unfortunately, it takes ten times as much power to double the volume, so I wouldn't expect more from a device of this size. significantly better or worse. The controls are impenetrable, neither seen nor felt, flat embossing on the rubber surface with no visible or tactile contrast. Very poor design, unusable unless you stop and examine it in bright light. You must use the controls on your phone/player. The underside cover is simply unreliable. Half the time I get home I find it dangling, forcing me to give the device a zero water/splash resistance rating. I was able to bend the aluminum bottle cage to hold the cap in place, which helps a bit, but I still don't trust it. For outdoor use, such a device must be absolutely waterproof. No memory card shuffle mode. This makes it practically unusable. To be fair I have NOT found ANY portable speaker with this feature. When it's on its side, it tends to rotate so the speakers are pointing straight up. It would be better if it weren't so round, but you can always lean on something. Not exactly easy - I hope it's due to the magnets on the speaker and a large battery and not a chunk of lead like the Beats headphones. I would like to see the dismantling. Bottom line: if you need a speaker for your bike, it's far from perfect, but it works. I hope that the second version will be much better.

Pros
  • NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATION (NFC): Start listening to music on the go by simply connecting this NFC speaker to an NFC-enabled mobile phone with the touch of a button.
Cons
  • So far so good
