Review on πŸ’» Brydge 10.5 Go+ Wireless Keyboard with Precision Touchpad for Microsoft Surface Go 1 & 2 - Designed for Surface (Silver) by Jason Camarillo

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good: Feel + experience with a laptop, Bad: Weight, pinching in screen corners

Positive aspects: 1. It is beautifully made. The silver back and stitching match the Surface's platinum finish, and the Surface and Brydge keyboards pair really well together. Brydge looks and feels like a premium accessory.2. It's very well balanced - the Surface is very comfortable to use on your lap. The Brydge hinge is very strong and fully expandable.3. The buttons, while small, are well spaced and positioned. With a little practice, you'll be able to type on it. The buttons are where you expect them to be.4. Bluetooth performance is excellent. No obvious lag, chatter, or pairing issues. The keyboard is available as soon as the Surface wakes up/boots. The keyboard can occasionally go to sleep, requiring the user to press FN-DEL to wake up, but for the most part you can turn it on and forget about it.5. The touchpad is nice and precise (it's actually a precision touchpad), supports Windows gestures, etc. Palm deflection is very good. Disadvantages: 1. The weight. The keyboard weighs just over a pound - slightly less than the Surface. You will notice a 1 to 2 pound weight difference when both devices are used together. screen clip. The Surface is placed in two soft "handles" on the Brydge hinge. Once fully installed into Brydge, the surface will be *very* securely held in place. I doubt the Surface will fall out if you turn the Brydge upside down. Unfortunately, the handles compress the Surface so much that light reflections appear in the lower left and right corners of the display. This is very noticeable when viewing dark content on the screen. I'm not worried about the safety of the display because when the bridge is removed I can squeeze my fingers on the corners and it just doesn't squeeze hard but it really gets in the way for movies, games etc. See photo. This is my least favorite aspect of this keyboard and I'm considering returning it for that reason alone, but I don't notice it in most screen and lighting conditions. Overall I like that it makes the Surface a good netbook with a detachable display, but for the price I'm not sure the whole combo makes sense compared to the Surface Go laptop. Consider going for stylus support and a microSD slot and being able to detach the keyboard. EDIT: I returned it. In the end, I wasn't as comfortable with the hinge's pressure on the screen as I thought and didn't feel like waiting for a replacement from Brydge when many other users reported the same basic keyboard issue.
