I really like this globe! I use it as a decor element with interesting colors so the color changing and dimming by remote is awesome. The colors each bring out a unique pattern in the design, and all look vaguely like some kind of planet or textured globe. The size is just right too. Really a beautiful little glowing gadget. It is bright too-- I often dim it to be more subtle.I tried out various charging and discharge times and the booklet says 3.5 hrs to charge-- that matched what I found. That seemed to keep it glowing for over 8 hours on a full charge, as I left it on all night. I am sure the hours of ON time depend on the brightness you choose, and the color (red LEDs take much less power than GREEN and BLUE the most power hungry). It is also convenient that a tiny RED LED inside glows to tell you when the charge is complete. Although I found even a shorter charge like an hour, can be enough to have it glowing through an evening or party. The remote has 16 colors (plus white) you can select and some effects like fading between colors, flashing, strobing. dimming and on/off from a distance-- everything I wanted really.It is sturdy too. I accidentally dropped it on my hardwood floor and it bounced, but not a scratch or dent and it worked perfectly after.Only minor complaint is I am collecting many different LED lamps with similar remote controls. The controller pads have no labels so unless you add marking, easy to mix them up. And they are not compatible--when I push the GREEN button on this one my lamp across the room often starts strobing purple. Similar weird things happen when I point the other lamp controller too much at the globe. Can be fixed by aiming it carefully and spacing out the LED lamps. Maybe someday these manufacturers will standardize the remote signals.
