Adjustable replacement for a poorly placed closet door rail

I had a particular problem that this product solved: the floor workers were drilling holes too far into the closet for the previous non-adjustable closet door rails. The doors constantly rubbed against the rails and were easily yanked out of the way by the tension. This product gave some leeway in the position of the rails without having to drill new holes in our new wood floors. A win-win situation.
