I am so glad I chose this lock after reading the reviews of many other similar locks. big but perfect. The build quality is excellent and it looks great. My redtail gave up his beloved log and immediately claimed the interior of the castle as his territory. The lock was smooth inside except for a small ridge on the hole which was easy to file, but this part seems very secure as there are no spots for fish to enter and the holes on the bottom are quite large . My algae eater has made several trips inside and is about the same size as a shark, about 6 inches long and over 1 inch in girth. My little fish, tetras, guppies and pintos love swimming around and through the towers. This is a beautiful castle and has made a great addition to my aquarium. UPDATE 8 MONTHS LATER June 2017: I thought it was safe for everyone but I was wrong. Alfie the algae eater I mentioned in my original review just got stuck in the top tower! He's been gone all day, which is unusual, so I picked the lock to see where he might be. I found him inside, head first in the tower and unable to get out even if I tugged at him. Three people tried unsuccessfully to free him. It became a choice: destroy the castle to save him or let him die. Alfie was more important. In the 4th photo it can be seen inside in a red circle after 3/4 of the lock has been broken off. We weakened him enough that he could finally swim out. He can be seen in the fifth photo recovering from his ordeal. His middle is swollen so I hope he survives. Yes, this is an amazing decoration, but be aware of the dangers some fish can face when using any type of decoration. I liked this lock but it just doesn't work with my bigger fish. It would have been better if the towers were closed so the fish don't migrate to that area and possibly get stuck.
