After our dog had knee surgery, we decided we didn't want him getting in and out of our SUV. (We have two Siberian Huskies) This was the perfect solution if you have a trailer hitch. It is adjustable, lockable and easy to install. It's very easy to "twist" it when you want to use it, and then tuck it under the car when not in use. It's incredibly strong and stable, so training dogs to use it was very easy. Plus, it's a great "table" for your water plate after a long hike! Keep it clean and oil it from time to time. Like any metal object with moving parts, it can get dirty/salty etc. But to be honest, its maintenance is minimal. The Twist Step is a little pricey but worth every penny as I am confident it will last for many years. It comes with clearly written instructions for installation, care and a form for ordering parts if required. I do NOT regret this purchase!
