Good enough for astronomy purposes

I bought the UpClose G2, 7x35 for my wife and 10x50 for me. Mainly for astronomical purposes. They may not be astronomically-optimized, multi-coated pixie dust binoculars, but these humble $25 binoculars are good enough for stargazing. They survived international shipping in perfect collimation. The focus works well, the images are clear and the star views are fantastic. Sizing Note: 7 x 35 is a great size for extended handheld use. Also for celestial navigation the increase is "just right”, tk. more constellations and star clusters fit in the field of view. Size 10x50 is heavier, hands tire faster from holding. Higher magnification means a better view of many things (from the Moon to the Orion Nebula), but it also means a narrower field of view. A note on focusing: learn how! After adjusting the width according to the eye relief, put one of the lens caps on the right lens (so that it is blocked and only the left eye can see through). Then aim at the star and focus the pen until it hits the perfect point. Put the cap on the left lens, look with your right eye and turn the eyepiece (not the center knob!) until the star is a perfect point again. Now you are done, remove the lens cap and enjoy! The included carrying cases and lens caps/dust covers are in perfect condition. Overall it's good quality at a good price.
