Review on πŸ”§ Keller Dovetail System 135-1500: The Ultimate Journeyman Dovetail Jig by Alfredo Testerman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So simple and to the point, it's almost a defense against an idiot!

Hands down the simplest, most accurate and most productive dovetail mount. If you take the time to precisely fabricate the baseboard (I laminated, glued, and planed two pieces of 6/4 poplar to a perfectly even 2.25 inch thickness) and then lined up the baseboard to the etched line, the basement up marked on the template, you can easily create perfect dovetail joints at regular or any spacing or any width without trial and error or additional adjustments. Easily adapts to innovative distances. My first connection prototype after assembling the backing plate and attaching it to the bracket was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised and now feel absolutely confident interlocking all the cabinet components made of expensive walnut, mahogany, cherry and figured maple. Each connection is made simply and beautifully. Using the required router bits with guide bearings (instead of the brass liner at the base of the router bit) allows for very tight tolerances and well matched dovetails. I find using this jig on a router table to be a dream come true when making the cuts vertically will. Also, if you have any questions, the owner, David Keller, is always happy to answer your emails quickly. An excellent product for fine woodworking at a great price. One last note: the lamp is also available as a two-piece set (one end piece, the other pins). For workshops with two people, this would speed up production significantly. I have two router tables; I set up one with a tail cutter and the other with a pin cutter so I can trim the ends, then immediately go to the second table to trim the pins without changing bits on either table. This way you can make cabinets and drawers very quickly. For example, I cut drawers with 5 evenly spaced dovetails/pins and machined each corner of the drawer in about 90 seconds each using both router tables. How to win it?!
