This is the same unit as the 7424 XP except it comes with an OPTIONAL sanding pad and was $20 cheaper than when I bought it. I use for buffing/polishing the car. I was surprised at how well it worked to remove scratches and creases and give my clear coat a wet look. I found that I didn't use the handle as the device is well balanced if you hold it in the middle. The handles on the working end of the machine tend to vibrate a bit. By keeping it in the middle you avoid vibration. I use it with an ASTRO 4607 5" velcro baseplate and Chemical Guys pads sold through Revain. This machine polished the pegs and some minor surface wear and scratches. Most of the work was cleaning and removing the tone .Before buffing/waxing, I recommend covering it with clay in sections to avoid foreign matter (pollen, wood debris and other airborne substances) getting into the paint.Your car should be clean to the touch before buffing/waxing .The motor part is simple and useful. When you're done there shouldn't be much leftover to wipe off.Use a good quality fabric to make this final doily.I bought this unit to repair damage I'm using cheap putty from this shipping package.
