I chose this thermometer because I make a lot of homemade yogurt and this model was recommended for checking soy milk temperature before adding starter. Accuracy matters. I do not cook meat or any other food that requires supervision. I found this thermometer to be a good size and very easy to use. I have to trust accuracy because I have nothing to compare. So far my yogurt cultures are good, so I'm guessing it's accurate. I love the bright red color, it makes it easy to find a spot in a drawer full of kitchen gadgets.
