Buying your own modem is a smart move, and used ones are fine, but

Cable companies don't make it easy to bring your own gear, but it's a smart move. As many other people have said, getting xfinity technologies to enable VOIP never seems to work out-of-the-box, but make sure you get two MAC addresses from the modem and have them handy if it inevitably doesn't work. from the box. Fortunately, the DOCSIS modem data works after the first ring. And I waited a day to call back and pick up VOIP. It took 3 technicians but I finally activated it and it worked. Since then everything is fine.
