Better than direct soldering in my opinion. Connectors provide good strong connections. The wire is thinner than I was hoping for, but I haven't seen or felt any heat issues in my LED project. I connect one side to 10mm RGBW tape and the other side to an 18AWG extension cord. It's easy to solder. I simply add some solder to the LED pads before pressing them in place. Very quick and easy. Shrink tubing used for both extension cords and LED strips. My heat gun is set at about 550F and I haven't seen any problems with the case melting (and I'm not very good at this first big soldering project, I'll have to watch YouTube to find out how). Would have given it a 5th star if the wire was closer to 20 AWG. I bought a good wire stripping tool from the store. This is Klein Tools 11063W (also available here at Revain). The smallest 18AWG slot will work fine with these wires even if they aren't 18AWG. It appears to be about 1/2 to 1/3 the size of the 18AWG extension cord I bought from Revain. Sometimes using the tool will strip the wires along with the case, but I'd say this only happens once every twenty attempts. I think this is because the pre-tinned part catches on the case when the tool removes it. They don't need to be stripped to solder to the LED strip (already perfect for that) but when I attach it to the extension I pull it back and make a more secure connection.
