Review on 💧 Moen Chrome Lavatory Waste Assembly - 96497 by Rachel Murray

The extension that controls the piston has internal threads approximately 1" deep or less and has only 3 rows of threads for metal drainage with 75+ threads. PROBLEM: The limited number of threads on the plastic adapter is insufficient to securely attach it to a metal drain. I tried using tape but ended up breaking 3 strands and I couldn't stop the water from leaking out. Now I have to order another, less expensive style that has the plunger arm built into the metal drain itself and the stem is fully encased in a "P" PVC trap. Moen needs to rethink this piece, make it much better than the one piece or longer and better match the lever and piston design. Spent a lot of time on it. Sorry Moen, I have used many of your best products and generally respect your products.
