PremiumCraft #6 Square Braid Cotton Candle Wick Review

This #6 square braided wick seems to work great in my 2.5 inch beeswax candles. No tunnels and seems to burn clean. For reference, #4 created a 1.5 inch tunnel.

Here's the thing. Excellent product, well finished, conforms to the description. I was the one who made the mistake. Wrong size received. I needed a much smaller size, it's like shoelaces.

Great value for money, wick as described, prompt dispatch! What else can a customer expect than that kind of "old school" customer service, the kind of service your grandfather told you was "used" as standard procedure :-).

I had a large jar candle (22 oz size). I used this wick to cut the wax to the desired size, then melted it and poured the wax into an empty candle jar. It worked great. Size #6 is ideal as it melts the entire surface of the candle and ensures an even burn. Whereas a smaller wick would not achieve this. Instead of losing a $20 candle, I can now enjoy it.

I saw a candle making guide that recommended this cotton wick. I am just starting out in candle making but I am reassured that I had a very useful candle on my first try. I decided to make my own beeswax candles because of the terribly toxic synthetic fragrances and dyes in commercial candles. I've been experimenting with these square braided wicks made from paraffin and beeswax. The two waxes appear to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Paraffin burns too easily and beeswax hardly burns. However, other beeswax sources may work better. I can only rate what I have at the moment. This wick's #4 beeswax-only wick does not appear to hold a 2" candle in a container, although this product's description says it will hold candles up to 4" in diameter.
