Stability, portability and build quality at a great price

I spent a lot of time researching and testing tripods before purchasing this one and the Oben AC-1441 is what you need. wanted a device that stretches to the maximum height and doesn't require me to constantly bend or crouch (I'm 6ft); to verify. I also wanted a tripod that folds down to a portable size so I can take it on a hike, on vacation, or just for a day when we're shooting around town. to verify. I didn't want the weight of the tripod to prevent me from pulling it out and carrying it around, and the top is very portable; to verify. I also needed stability and a decent maximum weight capacity (11lbs for the top) to keep my Pentax K-3 and 17-50mm f2.8 lens from moving and falling. to verify. Of course I could shell out $200-$500+ for another brand (Manfrotto, Giottos, Really Right Stuff) but I'm on a budget and Oben's price was perfect. The build quality seems pretty good and I've been pleased with its performance over the past few weeks. There are just a few minor downsides: the included ball head is single action, so there's no separate release for easy panning. However, it works well for what it is. The latches on the legs must not be tightened or loosened with an Allen key. It also prevents the legs from being taken apart to clean them (which I like to do after the tripod has been to the beach). Verdict: You couldn't beat this $100 tripod's size, weight, stability, portability, and accessories (I did mention that the included carrying case is amazingly strong and beautiful). I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a decent, sturdy, portable tripod that's also on a budget. The attached photo is a long exposure beach night photo taken with an Oben AC-1441.
