Review on ๐Ÿ” Thames Kosmos Multiplayer Mystery Exit by Shaun Robinson

Don't let the naysayers fool you - it's a great game!

We've done live quests and love logic puzzles, but we're not smart at all. I bought it for a date with my husband. This is our FIRST table quest so we had no idea what to expect. It took us both 3.5 hours to make a hint and we only took it because at that moment we were convinced that it was some kind of bug (there was NONE, by the way. The game is flawless ). Even with a hint, we didn't get it, so we had to take the answer. We got it completely (actually we tried), but we still haven't seen it. Later we had an "ah-ha!" moment and I decided that the apparent mistake was one of the best puzzles - I found it very funny, but mainly because I felt stupid, and that's okay. Well done player. Well played. This is technically a one off and premade game BUT I wanted to pass it on to our friends and I feel like we were able to do so successfully. The only real changes they got from us (no spoilers) were that we folded what obviously needed folding and cut out two things that obviously needed cutting. Anything else that needed to be cut and/or ripped we were able to solve without ruining the game. It is also very easy to discard cards for the following players. But WE can't play it again because the puzzles don't change. How many players: One can do it. Two is perfect. However, more and I don't understand how anyone can do anything. Sometimes there are things to avoid or look at, but since only one thing is happening at a given time, each of us had to look at the same thing at the same time. Warning: everything is surprisingly small (even the box). Some maps required effort to read as the handwriting was very small. I wore my bifocals a few times but thankfully my husband's young eyes were able to see them better. I thought it would take 2 hours but like I said it actually took us 3.5 hours. We believe you could pause the timer before the next puzzle and just exit the game and come back another day if you wish. We'll probably do that next time. I personally didn't mind the time, although it's refreshing to make something that doesn't require electronics and keeps you busy. My husband is slow and methodical. Personally I'm impatient and easily frustrated BUT I wanted this game and went in with a good attitude and kind of knew what to expect. I LOVE IT. However, if you can't contain your impatience or tend to give up easily, this game might not be for you. Go on. If you like the concept of the quest: BUY. THE. THE GAME. ! I have another one from this series. It's said to be harder, so we'll see!
