Yes, the wiring might seem a bit confusing at first, but a few simple experiments will quickly show you what you need. The top pin goes to ground from the LED in the switch, the middle pin goes to power, and the third pin goes to the peripherals. I'm assuming you can use the LED's ground tab to turn off other devices since there's (I'm assuming) an appropriate resistance in common with that LED. So if you need indicator LEDs elsewhere to show that this switch is on, this pin would be good to use as you probably won't need other built-in resistors. The lid can be a bit delicate, but since it's meant to protect, it can be a good thing. If you want it to be less likely to close, file the back of the lid that lies flat against the panel to tilt it further away from the tipping point.
