I don't really believe in additives, human or animal. But they work to prevent urinary tract infections in my collie. She was there once every two or three years. Last time, the vet said that because of the infection and the crystals in her urine, she would need to eat prescription food for the rest of her life. I suspected an infection from having to hold her urine for so long, so I took a sample to the vet one morning before going to the hospital. She called back an hour later and said there was no infection, no crystals and normal pH. As far as I know, cranberry supplements have been proven to work. And Cathy probably just fell into something external that didn't suit her stomach.
