Neither the top nor bottom hinge is attached to the main unit - this offers flexibility but also bulkiness.
Just note that neither the top nor the bottom loops (at the neck/mid-tummy) are permanently attached to the part that connects the top and bottom. This allows for more flexibility in placement and fit, but makes it pretty unwieldy every time you put it on. You often have to re-insert the neck and body loops as they slip and slide. Again, this might be a good idea if you want size flexibility.
