In general, I like having one tool for all my trimming needs. Reports of chatter are also true in my experience, but it mostly happens when I'm eagerly trying to undercut before the tone is as hard as leather (but more like soft leather). My big disappointment with this tool is that the black finish wears off very quickly and the bare metal rusts. So the rusty edges create small scratches that obviously transfer to your part. I eliminated some of these effects by filing them smooth and finishing with mineral oil after each use. However, I'm sure you all know that keeping your pottery tools dry is an uphill battle.
