GREAT for pruning but beware of rust!

love, love, love Crop with this tool. When I first used it, it became a replacement for my looping tools. The legs of my pots look much better now. Like others, I'm not sure I've mastered all of its abilities yet. And unfortunately, like others, I immediately noticed that it rusted. For me it's about the logo. Too bad they covered it or something; Perhaps potters with personal workshops can keep our cutting tools dry, but those of us who use community workshops tend to toss everything in a…

Great shape and pretty efficient but will inevitably rust.

In general, I like having one tool for all my trimming needs. Reports of chatter are also true in my experience, but it mostly happens when I'm eagerly trying to undercut before the tone is as hard as leather (but more like soft leather). My big disappointment with this tool is that the black finish wears off very quickly and the bare metal rusts. So the rusty edges create small scratches that obviously transfer to your part. This is my favorite cropping tool. The multiple cutting surfaces give you plenty of options, and it's convenient to just flip it over rather than putting down one tool and picking up another. He cuts fast, but maybe his quick cuts make him a little unforgiving at times. I probably wouldn't recommend it as a first tool for a beginner. He carefully discards the clay shavings; better than wire tools except when the clay is very wet. But then the clay is probably too wet to cut well. In the hand it

Pros
  • Reversible metal tool for cutting clay, sculpting and pottery.
Cons
  • Dear

I've been making pottery for about 8 years and have used a buttonhole cutter the whole time. The ones in my studio were getting a bit boring so I decided to give it a try. It's a great tool, but because I'm so used to other tools, I've learned to use it differently. It wasn't difficult, just holding was new to me, and learning which sides to use was a bit experimental. I wouldn't say it was a bad experience and I didn't screw up, but I just think it takes time to learn how to use it…

Pros
  • Heavy duty steel construction.
