Shoes provide great support when transitioning from orthopedic boots to street shoes - lightweight but very durable sole (and comfortable). Mesh on the sides ensures that the shoe does not feel too tight. I normally wear a size 7 but after breaking a fifth metatarsal I went down to a size 7Β½ due to the slight ongoing swelling. Although I usually wear a narrow width, I ordered a medium to compensate for the swelling in my foot. Luckily there is ample padding in the ankle area so the width was snug enough to prevent riding up and down. My podiatrist showed me the best way to lace my shoes so the laces stay in place: THE OUTSIDE OF THE SHOES INSIDE (usually the laces are already laced inside out so you have to turn them inside out). 2) Then use that final hole that curves towards the ankle area (people rarely use it when lacing their shoes). Lace this hole inside out. The photos below illustrate. It's an easy change, but you'll find that you have more ankle support and the laces rarely untie while walking/running.
