There are some one star reviews stating that this product does not work at all and is not due to user error. So I decided to buy a smaller bottle and just give it a try. I didn't expect a good result but I was willing to try. I used detergent and gave the shutters a good wipe and then rinsed them out. After that they still had oxidation and I was a little annoyed even though it says you may have to clean more than once. Next time I'll just use a mixture of bleach and water to clean, dry and then give it a final wipe with rubbing alcohol to make sure there's no residue before using the paint. Anyway, I decided not to clean it again and just try a stain with color and it really did look like my original cap right away. So I applied one coat to both shutters and after they dried I applied the second coat. The attached picture shows my left blind after two coats of paint and the right side without anything. The second photo shows one of the right hand side blinds with paint on the top half and no paint on the bottom half so you can see the difference with just a quick coat of paint. I still have 12 blinds to go but I'm very impressed with the results!
