This is not very well designed. What you don't see in the picture is that the back of the hinge is open. There is a gap in the plastic that causes the cutting wires to play too much - they can't be properly aligned. In fact, the wire part can slide completely out of the plastic support. The front of the wire sometimes almost lines up with the next slot. (Note: it's plastic, not metal, except for the stainless steel wires.) At first I couldn't get it to work at all. However, with a little research into the design flaws and a little practice, I was able to get one and it worked well enough with an egg in it to get through. The stainless steel wire actually cuts very well, otherwise everything is fine! like that . If you enjoy a little tinkering while cooking, this is for you. But if you want to make a lot of eggs and work efficiently and smoothly, I would heartily recommend a different product. It would be very easy to fix that back loop and it would be a great little cut!
