Review on πŸ”§ Serpentine Belt Wrench Tool: Perfect Fit for Honda Acura Accord CR-V Civic & more! by Kyle Fachini

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked on Mazda5 2.5L (2012).

This tool is quite basic but it was enough to get the job done. The Mazda 2.5L seat belt pretensioner is located in the lower rear part of the engine compartment and is difficult to access. A standard box wrench is too short for the average person to apply the torque required. A wrench extension can be used from underneath, but there isn't much clearance on the tensioner before your wrench hits the suspension control arm. This tool is not properly curved for use from below. However, it is bent just right to be used from the top of the engine bay. (The 19mm head is bent the other way, but Mazda uses a 14mm head.) The extra length of this tool makes turning the tensioner fairly easy. On a Mazda you will need to create extra clearance to rotate the tool by jacking up the engine and removing the engine mount and unscrewing and sliding the air conditioning line. Once that's done, one person can loosen the tension and place the belt on a small, smooth idler pulley near the left side of the engine. it is anyway. I was a little nervous that the 12-point socket tends to round off the turnbuckle, but it held securely (and less prone to rounding than either solution combined).

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks
