The brush hairs are very soft and thick. I am new to acrylic nails and bought this brush too big. I bought size #18 and I bought other brands and the brush tip sizes were smaller than I expected, in this case I had to buy size #12. This brush size would be perfect for picking up more acrylic when I'm doing longer nails, but I like short or medium nails. Overall the quality of the brush is good compared to others and just don't put nail polish remover on the brush handle, the writing will peel off if you take care of it. It definitely picks up the monomer well and as I said you can use more acrylic powder with the #18 brush if you like longer nails. When it dries it also keeps the almond shape when you first got it. I've only used the brush once, but I'll definitely be buying a different size so I have a choice if I decide to have longer nails.
