Bought this to separate my daughter's play area with a wide entrance. All I can say is that my 2 year old daughter learned to open the gate in two days. I was interested in the length of the gate, as well as double gates, but they didn't exactly fit the entrance. The panels are removable to adjust the length, but I didn't understand that you have to remove 2 panels at a time as you have to put the plug in the socket to assemble. This means you lose 48 inches at a time since each panel is 24 inches. The gates stay open for now because they minimize toy proliferation and at least slow my daughter down, but they definitely don't do the job they were designed for as I can't safely leave my daughter in her play area so she can unlock it.
