Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced Braking Performance with BrakeBuddy 39530 Stealth Braking Package by Matthew Frandsen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ease of use - Works great - Difficult to install

Once installed, the unit works great and meets all my expectations for ease of use. It also works well in what it is supposed to do, which is to help stop the tow vehicle. I have mine on a 2014 Honda CRV 4WD. It is pulled by a Forest River Class C 3170ds. The front of a 2013 Ford E450 van. The RV clutch fork works with the red Brake Mate cable without rewiring. However, you need to connect the control box in the cabin, and you need a special cable to connect the control box to the Ford brake wiring. This will prevent you from cutting the RV's cables. The connection point is behind this dash, behind the coin holder at the top of this dash, but to get there you have to remove all the trim (not easy). Now for the sake of the 4 stars. Installing a braking partner is no easy task and is best left to a professional. Mine was installed by a friend who is a pro and he said he would never do it again. The box in the car is big too. We managed to get it under the driver's seat, but only after removing the seat and pushing the carpet back onto the bare floor. It works, but it's cramped and the carpet and one of the plastic covers had to be trimmed to fit. Again, this is not a problem, but the installation is not easy. Do I buy a Brake Buddy again if I change the clutch? Yes, I would imagine I could fit it in for a reasonable price. That's because once installed, it's incredibly easy to install and ready to go in seconds. It is very easy to switch off even when camping or if you suddenly find yourself in a hard-to-reach place when towing, such as a car park. a gas station, etc. It meets user-friendliness requirements, so if this is your number 1 interest, this is the device for you. And of course stops the car effectively without causing problems for the towing vehicle.
