Brake Buddy - Jeep Wrangler TOAD

The system was installed on a Jeep Wrangler. Works very well and is relatively easy to understand if you have electrical and mechanical experience.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Not sure

Very discreet once installed

I liked that this package is almost invisible after installation. Installed the head unit in the very back of the 2017 Wrangler JKU. I still had to trim the cable a bit. And to hide the cable and wiring along the driver's door required quite a bit of disassembly. I installed an outside plug on the passenger side of the grille. There were already two holes, perfectly spaced. All cables are perfectly matched in length and everything you need is included.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • unreliable

Long installation, not for mechanics.

This is a 6 hour project so give it all day. 4 phases of installation. 1 wire harness, 2 pulley, 3 vacuum pump, 4 controller. None of this is overly complicated, just take your time and be a little mechanically inclined. I had to drive to the dealership a couple of times to get a smaller check valve and vacuum line. Overall it looks great and has been field tested and will be updated after towing a few hundred miles.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Some bugs

Additional braking system

It is difficult to find reviews on this product. I've had it for over a year now and I really like it. I had a problem, but I blame myself. Coupling/connector disconnected while driving, which applies the brake. Nothing good will happen. I think the cable was "pulled out" in the wrong place because I connected it above the hitch, not below. I know it's confusing, but I have a hitch on a car, not an RV. The trailer hitch is too close to the fork. I've ridden over 6,000 miles with no problems and

A bit difficult to set up, but then works great

This device is quite easy to install and connect. The difficulty lies in setting up and then testing. I installed this on a 2016 Jeep JKU. I removed a small bracket under the driver's seat to make room for the device. See photo of underside of driver's seat. After installation, the instructions describe how to test the device. You can expect the device to pull the brake pedal several inches. He will not. He will only place it about 3/4 inch. Because that's how long the booster pump has to help…

. The Odyssey has been around for a month now and I'm very happy with it

I've been using the stealth brake assist in my 2008 Honda Odyssey for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. I had a choice of brake partner, but in cold weather it stops working due to moisture buildup in the air line. The Brake Buddy Stealth has an electric motor, so it shouldn't have that kind of problem - while that's true, I've never had a problem in sub-zero temperatures. Installation was very easy. If you have experience installing radios and alarm systems you shouldn't have any…

Ease of use - Works great - Difficult to install

Once installed, the unit works great and meets all my expectations for ease of use. It also works well in what it is supposed to do, which is to help stop the tow vehicle. I have mine on a 2014 Honda CRV 4WD. It is pulled by a Forest River Class C 3170ds. The front of a 2013 Ford E450 van. The RV clutch fork works with the red Brake Mate cable without rewiring. However, you need to connect the control box in the cabin, and you need a special cable to connect the control box to the Ford brake…

The vacuum pump is bad, the installation is no joke.

This system works really well when you look at it. It's also very easy to hook up and ride without the traditional silos of braking systems. Your universal connector is excellent and works really well. However, it has been a long journey (over a month) to install and to the point where it safely stops the towed car. June 9th: I ordered a Brake Buddy stealth kit for my 2017 GMC Acadia V6. July 5th: I proceeded to install the kit and found that I was missing the wiring harness and umbilical cord…
