Metal seat over spring, strong and elegant. The rubber/neoprene seat that sits between it and the spring is very flimsy. It's just a skinny donut. There are many opportunities for metal-to-metal contact over time. On my Sienna I cut off some of the stock strut boots/bellows under the top of the spring. Mine were torn making that part an easy task. As a result, the OEM top seat is thicker and much more comfortable to fit as it wraps around the top of the spring and the spring footprints also help align everything.
