Bought my wife an 05 convertible and the only problem was the trunk only opened and closed after 5 button presses then you could stick your fingers under it and open it. Thinking of it as an "auxiliary tool" would mean cutting the carpet to make room for the spring, and that would cost $10 more. Got this for $20, took 5 minutes to replace both, now it opens 1 inch each time. I used to slam the trunk halfway and let go. Now I have to close it. Don't waste time with other options. Can't say how long this is going to last, but at least it's finally working properly.
