Make your trunk burst again!

My C5 trunk doesn't "pop" when I push the button. I replaced the shelves with these. It now jumps about 1 inch in the air and is easily accessible in the trunk. Worth the $20 for not struggling to get in the trunk!

  • Heavy Duty Finish

Perfect and so easy to install

Removal and installation is extremely easy. I watched the YouTube video just to make sure what I thought was the right thing to do. They only open the trunk an inch or two, but that's about all the original models did. Very happy with the purchase.

Cons

Perfect fit and easy to install.

They fit perfectly in the trunk of our 2012 Corvette Convertible. They're strong enough to hold the trunklid, but they haven't really improved how far the trunk opens when deployed. We were hoping the boot would lengthen an inch or more, but unfortunately it didn't make much of a difference. They also hold the trunk lid open with ease and aren't too strong to make it difficult to close either.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!

  • Expensive

If you find the C6 difficult to open just grab it

Bought my wife an 05 convertible and the only problem was the trunk only opened and closed after 5 button presses then you could stick your fingers under it and open it. Thinking of it as an "auxiliary tool" would mean cutting the carpet to make room for the spring, and that would cost $10 more. Got this for $20, took 5 minutes to replace both, now it opens 1 inch each time. I used to slam the trunk halfway and let go. Now I have to close it. Don't waste time with other options. Can't say how…

They're getting old and you don't understand them

2000 C5, do I need them? Press fingers to open = replaceWant to hold when partially open = replace Closes 1/3 down = replace I did and it stopped all of the above! Start with a very small flathead screwdriver, we all have one in our toolbox, pry up the spring clip, open (pictured), DO NOT power off, remove the cylinder from the rod, rotate the cylinder vertically and repeat Operation on the lower bar . . Reverse order with a new cylinder likely to snap into place without the use of a…

Harder to install than it should be

I know some people say they installed it in 5 minutes. I'm pretty skilled, but it took a lot longer. I gathered all the tools I had on hand and set to work. It turned out that I needed a fairly narrow flathead screwdriver and something to use as a fulcrum for the lever. Then when I got everything ready I lifted the spring clip from one end and the clip rose unevenly. It spun around and closed the hole where the pin on the trunk lid should have gone. It took many attempts to evenly lift the clip

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
