I've used almost every common method of pushing/retracting calipers, but this is by far the easiest and fastest method to push single-piston calipers without a ratchet. I don't make a living from cars, but over the years it has provided both cost savings and enjoyment. It's nice when everything goes well or as intended. Frustration when a seemingly simple task takes too long. Properly designed tools greatly reduce frustration and make car maintenance more fun than a chore. This tool checks this block. It takes less than 10 seconds to retract a plunger. No fiddling with a clunky C-clamp (if you can find the right one), no damaging the caliper guard or piston boot—just a few simple steps and you're done. Simply retract the compression head, insert the backplate on the appropriate side, pull the caulk gun style trigger 3-4 times (this is evident when the plunger is fully retracted - no need to try to push it in), pull back the compression motion head a little, pull it out and you're done in just a few seconds. If you need to squeeze this tool hard, your caliper uses a ratcheting piston (typically rear brakes where the parking brake is part of the caliper) and it's not the right tool.
