Anemic heater for outdoor use - no switch or thermostat

This is a well designed unit for outdoor use but there is a lot more light than heat. I bought this to use on my patio umbrella. It's mounted above a sliding door that faces my spa. I was hoping it would provide enough warmth to stand underneath while drying off in the spa in cold weather, but it just doesn't give off that much warmth. My propane patio heater is much more efficient when lit. Didn't expect it to heat up the room - only people standing under it for about 5 minutes. It's disappointing that he can't even do that. I have two other problems: 1) It makes the whole room glow bright orange - this gives a lot more visible light than I would have expected from an "infrared" heater (you could read that!) 2) There is no switch on the heating element or co-cable. You need to turn it on or off by connecting it to the network. There is also no thermostat or timer - taken together these are significant disadvantages for a heater of this type. I would recommend looking into other spot heating options. It's worth a try if it looks like it will suit your needs, but be aware of its limitations. Remember that it must be installed in a sheltered place - it must not be exposed to rain or snow.
