Review on Enhanced GIS-R2 Internet Gateway for Optimized Business Hotspots by Eric Ramen

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Setting up a gateway for our motel guests is easy.

We have a 40 unit motel. We offer free internet. The password alone wasn't enough as word of mouth was circulating on the internet and I didn't feel like changing my password regularly. I needed something that would allow people to log in with their last name and room number. And if something doesn't match, I can block that MAC address. I will say that he has one of the most detailed instructions I have ever had on any electronic device. Setup is fairly easy, including changing the login text and requirements. Even uploading our motel wallpaper was easy. The guide is still not clear enough for a beginner to understand something like port forwarding to access a device over the WAN. But that's fine, I manage it by accessing it from a computer connected to it. I would say that there are only two downsides. We "allow" regular guests to access the Internet every xx hours without having to log in. There is no memo field with allowed and blocked MAC addresses. Instead we are told that any word that is NOT a MAC address is simply ignored, so we can add a word on the line above or below the MAC address. It looks messy and can ruin everything. Anyway, I need to keep a separate file showing who belongs to which MAC address.2. Likewise, the only way I know which MAC addresses to allow or block is based on the email I get when someone signs up. The current users list includes MAC addresses and IP addresses, but does not associate this information with a login. Ask for name and room number. It would be great if they listed these fields with IP addresses and MAC addresses. So far, so good. One of the most economical and simple solutions for such a gateway that I have found.
