I'm a welder-maker by trade and have been using pneumatic die grinders for many years. I've recently started welding pipe with both GTAW and SMAW but haven't had access to a good air compressor anymore. I bought this item as I already had a set of DeWalt 20 and 60 tools. It is fantastic for deburring the inside of cut pipe as well as removing mill scale and oxidation in places that would be difficult to reach with a standard angle grinder. It's not a very noisy tool, but it does an excellent job of prep, smoothing metal tack welds, opening bevels, and welding open roots. LED lights also make it easier to see what you're doing, rather than working in the dark or trying to position a traditional work light so your arms and torso don't block it when you're in a tight work area. tool length and weight. Neither was a problem as losing a heavy pneumatic hose tangling on things is worth it. The device works with 20 or 60 volt batteries. So far I've used metal cutting discs and carbide heads with great success. I'm also planning to find a good drum sander for this. If you've already invested in DeWalt's line of tools, I highly recommend you buy one.
