Review on 🚗 Dorman 911-603 Vacuum Switching Valve: A Reliable Choice for Toyota Models by Corey Krull

I bought this to replace the EVAP Control Vacuum Changeover Valve (VSV for EVAP) on my 1998 Toyota Sienna. The old one has cracked with age. I purchased this part knowing that this switch was not designed for my 1998 Sienna and would not be an equivalent replacement. The difference from the original Toyota Sienna part is the mounting bracket which does not match the screw hole for proper installation. Otherwise, the electrical connection and the switching function are identical. I used three plastic zip ties to secure it. It's not going anywhere. My engine fault code is now cleared. I am happy. Some reviewers have complained that it doesn't fit their car or doesn't solve the problem. My car has two VSV switches connected to the EVAP system. The engine trouble code could have been caused by my fault in one of the vacuum switches, the evaporative pressure sensor, or the charcoal tank itself. On my 1999 Camry I had to replace the entire canister and VSV assembly. You must determine which one to replace and then purchase the correct part that fits your vehicle. I usually visually inspect the part from the picture and then check the manufacturer's website for a cross reference with the OEM part number. I don't think it's fair to complain after buying the wrong part or replacing the wrong part. You can remove and test the suspected vacuum switch. Connect the 12V DC power supply from the battery to the pins in the connector (on the switch). If you hear a click when connecting and disconnecting, the switch is most likely fine. Note: Vacuum hoses in older vehicles can harden and cannot be reused. My family has two cars that are more than 10 years old and I have a set of silicone vacuum hoses in the garage. The 3.5mm, 6.0mm, and 10.0mm hose sizes seem to cover all my vacuum hose needs for my car. The kit I purchased is sold at Revain by Verocious and has an item ID: HVMIN-KIT-BLK.
