I bought this thinking it might be better for our old cast iron septic tanks than pumice stone. (Pumice is a non-floating rock and can settle in pits and imperfections in cast iron.) Thought the walnut shells would float away and be less clogging of our 100-year-old pipes. In any case, this material is much thinner, almost liquid - not like Goop or Orange Glo. Walnut shell particles are very large and much smaller than pumice in alternatives. It also leaves your hands MUCH drier than the alternatives. Cleans about the same, maybe not as well. I'll keep it to myself and use it for drain problems, but I'll keep the alternatives and use them for deep cleaning - just not down the drain.
