I had the opportunity to compare this product with several binoculars and another monocular that I already have. I'd say this item is noticeably better than the really cheap stuff, but it doesn't compare to higher quality glass either. I found it to have better resolution and contrast than my old (Orion) 8x20 monocular. It also had much better eye relief, which is important for eyeglass wearers. The field of view was also excellent. I've also preferred it to all my really cheap binoculars that I've accumulated over the years, mostly as gifts from other people. On the other hand, there was no comparison to my 10x30 Vortex Diamondback binoculars, which are my next step on the way to so-called mid-range binoculars. The Vortex was clearly superior in resolution and contrast even when using the binoculars with only one eye. So the bottom line is that this monocular is a good choice for everyday use, especially if you want to carry a small item that's light and handy. However, if you need higher resolution and contrast, it might not be the best choice.
