I live in a lower area than the surrounding area, this antenna has really helped me to get and receive a signal reliably. It's long, but when you need a signal nothing can replace the length of the cable. The longer the antenna, the better the signal, period. I added shrink tubing where the flexible part enters the non-flexible part for stability. I was worried that if I accidentally drowned the walkie-talkie in a field, water would get in there. If you need ham radio bands, get this one. If you need business groups, get a business group. The high-Q part means this antenna works great on the bands it's tuned to, but not very well on frequencies outside of those bands. If you need a broadband RX, get a broadband antenna. If you want excellent reception and transmission on specific bands namely 144-148MHz and 440-449MHz then get this one.
