Review on πŸ”Œ Grohe 46138000 1/2 in. Quick Coupling: Hassle-Free Connection at Any Size by Brad Dotson

If a 50-year-old mom can install it, so can you.

It was a perfect fit and easy (like DIY install) to install. There are no instructions included with the product, but I read other reviews and googled to find out how to install it. Simply put, the black end is a threaded connection. The yellow (or any other color) end is the retractable release/latch. To remove a failed coupler, place a basin under the sink to catch water. CLOSE THE WATER VALVES BELOW THE SINK. Grab the muff with both hands, hold the muff with one hand and pull the colored piece down with the other. This will allow you to remove the coupling from the metal pipe. Disconnect the coupling from the pipe carefully, avoiding the natural flow of water. Drain the hose and tube into the drip tray. Unscrew the black hose end and dry the hose thread. When the Teflon tape wears out, remove the old one and add a new one. Teflon tape is used in many screw connections and is readily available at hardware stores. Tighten the clutch, but not too tight. What does that mean? It should be secure enough not to leak, but not as tight as possible. Hand tightening is ok. No wrench is required unless you have trouble with hand strength. Reattach the colored end to the tube by holding the sleeve with one hand while pulling the colored part down as you slide it over the metal tube. Push the colored part all the way in and release. You should hear/feel it click into place. Pull on it to make sure it's secure. Voila! They have made. Don't forget to turn the water back on. Leave the sink in place until you have fully tested the installation. Watch out for leaks. Turn on and off several times and let the water run for long and short periods of time. Any leaks are likely due to poor sealing of the black end. If the colored end is loose, tear it off while you turn on the water. Final tip: it's worth paying extra for overnight delivery as you'll save a lot of money by not calling a plumber. I first looked to see if I could find this part at a local brick and mortar supplier but had no luck. I doubt a plumber can get it to you quicker unless the company bring it themselves.
