Review on Enhance Visual Experience with J Tech Digital πŸ‘οΈ Extender Single 1080P: Unleash Crisp and Clear High-Definition Display by Christopher Bacho

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Update: died three times. Works from Windows PC to A/V Receiver with full 7.1 sound!

UPDATE: I've already died three of them, I suspect overheating because it gets very hot but I don't know exactly why. The company kindly replaced it twice and it died the third time, so I'm very disappointed that I downgraded that five star rating and searched again (for a basic power strip that just works) for the FOURTH time. Initial Review: I first tried the Monoprice 98ft extension. It worked great with no adjustments but died after a few months, as did the next two RMAs. I then tried a 196ft Aukey extension, which worked fine, but I had to hit the reset button on the box every time I wanted to use it, and it only worked in stereo (a deal breaker). Finally, I tried this J-Tech extender with an HDMI v1.3 cable and at first it also only showed stereo as an option on my computer. So I emailed the company and they responded within a day how it works. There is a feature called "EDID Copy" where you connect the transmitting device to your TV (or A/V receiver in my case) and then press and hold the "EDID Copy" button for five seconds. and it basically copies the HDMI metadata into the box via the display. So when I go back and reconnect everything correctly, he sees the extender as my A/V receiver and all the surround sound options work great! Genius! Essentially, this is more like a direct connection. For those less computer savvy, here's how to set it up on a Windows PC. Connect the transmitter box to the computer and the receiver box to the AV receiver (or TV) on the other side. Then in Windows 10 (or any version), right-click Desktop > Display Settings, select the grayed-out secondary display, scroll down to "Multiple displays" and select "Extend my desktop onto this display". To set the audio, right-click the speaker icon on the toolbar > Playback Devices > select HDMI Output, then click Set as Default. Then click Customize to see the output options and select the Surround Sound option. Here I originally only saw "Stereo" as an option and used the EDID solution above to fix the problem. It now sees my A/V receiver by name and shows me all the options I need as if I were directly connected to the receiver.

Pros

Cons
