I wanted to install this in my pantry and wardrobe but was surprised to find a magnet on the back. I've always wanted more light above my stove. The headlights on the hood are too high and too far away, giving off a dim light. My warming shelf isn't magnetic, but by adding a small magnet to the top of the shelf, it keeps the light in place below. They don't come on when all the skylights are on full blast, but we usually dim them a little. These lights are great for sneaking up to the coffee pot in the morning before all the lights are on. I put one in my pantry. It's not even appropriate. I leaned it against the side wall on one of the shelves. Lights up every time I open the door. Much better than the light I mounted on the wall which requires a free hand to turn on and off. Without attaching it, I can move it around and use it as a flashlight when digging in back corners. I moved the light around and tested it in drawers, a wardrobe and even under my computer desk. Too bad there aren't 6 pieces in the set.
