This is the 12th recorder I have bought. All others were good, but I would caution against using the internal storage for any recordings on these devices. ONLY use a microSD card for recording as it can be easily removed for downloading to your computer. The problem with internal storage is that files that get corrupt are not transferred to your computer and are not archived. . The player's internal memory tells me the folder is full. But my computer tells me that the registrar folder is empty. It is not communicating properly with the recorder due to corruption and I cannot access the files using normal methods. The Olympus tech told me that I could plug the male to male patch cord into the headphone jack and route it into the headphone jack. Microphone jack of another recording device. That would mean I would have to make real-time transfers. IE: If a file is an hour and 20 minutes long, you should sit there and watch it for an hour and 20 minutes. I worked out a situation where I could record files in real time in my audio recording program called Sound Forge. But since the IC recorder files are now temporarily stopped when transferring. To do this, I have to stop the recording in Sound Forge, place a marker at the point where the recording stopped, return to the original point on the IC recorder where the file stopped, and start recording again. In an hour and 20 minutes on a file, I had to make up to 10 edits to make the file contiguous. DO NOT use the internal memory of these recorders. If damaged, you can only listen to the files on the voice recorder itself and not transfer them to a computer. I will never write to the internal storage of these again.
